In nature, 10-15% of lambs do not survive. In a "happy lamb" barn, you fight to get that number to zero. But sometimes, despite CPR on a newborn or tube-feeding a weakling, you lose one. Those days are devastating. You cry in the feed shed. Then you go back to work, because the other 50 lambs need you.
