For the uninitiated, BioShock is a first-person shooter that transcends the genre. The game begins with a plane crash in the mid-Atlantic. You survive, only to discover a lighthouse leading to an underwater city called Rapture.
BioShock is set in the dystopian underwater city of Rapture, which was founded by Andrew Ryan in the 1940s. The game takes place in 1960, where players assume the role of Jack, a survivor of a plane crash in the Atlantic Ocean. As Jack navigates the ruins of Rapture, he must confront the city's degenerate and violent citizens, known as Splicers, who have been genetically modified using a substance called ADAM.
