Insurgence does not have an auto-save feature outside of specific checkpoints. In windowed mode, it is terrifyingly easy to accidentally click the red "X" in the corner of the window while reaching for your mouse. In fullscreen, that X doesn't exist. You cannot close the game on accident. You have to consciously press Alt+F4 or use the in-game menu. This has saved hundreds of hours of lost progress for players challenging the infamous "Cult of Darkrai" gauntlet.
