The story concludes with Bilbo returning to the Shire, but not before saying goodbye to his new friends. Thorin, now wiser and more humble, becomes the leader of Erebor, and the town prospers under his rule.
The "fixed" versions circulating now really clean up the CGI color palettes, making the Battle of Erebor feel grittier and more grounded. Definitely the definitive way to close the trilogy. The story concludes with Bilbo returning to the
